Highfield Level 2 Diploma in Care (RQF) is the Ofqual-recognised qualification, approved by Skills for Care and CQC, as the recognised qualification for care assistants and support workers in any area of health and social care.

The Awarding Body is Highfield Qualifications, also known as Highfield Awarding Body foe Compliance (HABC).

Programme Content – What the learner will study

To fully achieve the Highfield Level 2 Diploma in Care (RQF), learners must complete a minimum of 46 credits, delivered through 16 units, which are:

  1. Communication in care settings
  2. Handle information in care settings
  3. Personal development in care settings
  4. Implement person-centred approaches in care settings
  5. Equality and inclusion in care settings
  6. Health, safety and well-being in care settings
  7. Responsibilities of a care worker
  8. Duty of care
  9. Safeguarding and protection in care settings
  10. Support individuals to access and use information about services and facilities
  11. Move and position individuals in accordance with their care plan
  12. The principles of Infection Prevention and Control
  13. Support individuals who are distressed
  14. Support care plan activities
  15. Support independence in the tasks of daily living
  16. Introductory awareness of sensory loss

The content of the various learning resources provided to the learner also enable the learner to gain updated knowledge on the latest Acts of Parliament, government guidelines and Codes of Practice, including:

  • Care Act (2014) with subsequent amendments, and implications for
  • CQC Fundamental Standards 2015
  • Duty of Candour requirements
  • Understanding principles of independent advocacy
  • Understanding Audit Processes, including the updated Caldicott Report (2015)
  • The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
  • National Occupational Standards for benchmarking and updating CPD
  • Implementing the requirements for Care and Support Plans
  • Practical implications of the balance between risk assessment, risk-taking and rights and responsibilities

There are no separate exams for this qualification, only assessments.

The Highfield Level 2 Diploma in Care (RQF) supports those working in different settings, including:

Highfield Level 2 Diploma in Care (RQF) was known as Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (QCF), and before that it was known as NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.

It is approved by CQC and Skills for Care as the qualification for Care Assistants and Support Workers.

It is recognised by Ofqual.

For this qualification, learners must live and work in England, in a care job, either in social care or in health care..

This delivery option is distance-learning and online learning, and self-paced.

How Learning is delivered

How Learning is assessed

Learners are assessed through a series of questions and workbooks to assess their knowledge and understanding.

To assess the learner's practical skills and competence, the Assessor will use a variety of assessment methods to gather work-based evidence including:

Learners will be guided and supported to prepare for assessments.

There are no workplace visits.

There is no need to involve your Manager or your Employer.

Yes, this RQF Diploma qualification is delivered and assessed using online channels. Not that this RQF Diploma is a full Ofqual- recognised qualification, not just a course.
